Can Virtual Cabinet be hosted alongside our accountancy software?
Yes – this is one of the key benefits of our hosting approach. We can host Virtual Cabinet in the same environment as CCH Central, IRIS or other practice management software, with a single login point through our hosted desktop. This gives your team seamless access to both document management and practice management from one place.
How is access to documents controlled?
User access is controlled through Virtual Cabinet’s own permission system, with an additional layer of protection via Cisco Duo MFA at login. This means documents are only accessible to authenticated users with appropriate permissions – and every access attempt requires a second factor of authentication.
Is our document storage GDPR compliant?
Yes – all documents are stored on our privately owned UK servers. Data never leaves the UK and is subject only to UK law. Our ISO 27001 certification provides the independently verified security framework that GDPR requires for processing personal data on behalf of your clients.
How long are documents retained in backups?
Daily backups are retained for 30 days. For longer-term document retention requirements (e.g. HMRC or professional body requirements), Virtual Cabinet’s own retention policies manage document archiving within the system – this is separate from our infrastructure backups.
