Doesn’t Microsoft back up my Microsoft 365 data? ⌄
No – Microsoft’s responsibility is service uptime, not data backup. Their retention policies are limited and not designed for recovery from accidental deletion, ransomware or user error. You need a dedicated backup solution to protect your Microsoft 365 data properly.
How quickly can my data be restored? ⌄
Recovery time depends on the amount of data and the type of restore. Individual files and folders can typically be recovered within minutes. Full server restores are handled through our disaster recovery capability – see our Disaster Recovery page for more detail on RTOs.
Can ransomware encrypt my backups? ⌄
No. Cove stores backups in a private cloud environment that is completely isolated from your network. Backups are immutable – they cannot be altered or deleted even by an attacker with administrator access to your systems.
How often are backups taken? ⌄
Backup frequency is configured based on your business requirements. Cove supports multiple backups per day for servers and Microsoft 365 data – Exchange and Teams can be backed up up to 6 times daily, giving you granular restore points and a low RPO.
How much does managed backup cost? ⌄
